Section 27
Functions, Duties and Powers of the Council
Except as otherwise provided in this Act, the functions, duties and powers of the Council shall be as follows:
(a) Conducting or conducting various programs to encourage settlement of disputes through conciliation,
(b) To simplify the procedure of dispute resolution through conciliation and suggest to the Government of Nepal to improve the existing law for the widespread use of such procedure,
(c) to approve the course of training to be given for conciliators and to appoint an institution to conduct such training,
(d) To monitor and evaluate the institutional capacity and quality of training of the organization providing reconciliation services,
(e) conducting training and interaction programs for enhancing the efficiency of mediators,
(f) To prepare a draft of a permanent structure of community reconciliation at the local level and recommend it to the Government of Nepal for implementation,
(g) monitor or cause to be monitored the work of the conciliator,
(h) to investigate whether the conciliator has followed the code of conduct or not and to take action in case of non-compliance,
(i) To take or cause other work related to reconciliation.
